About the Role

A Residential Support Specialist (RSS) provides personal care and training to adults with developmental disabilities within an Adult Residential Facility.  All RSS’s train residents in self-help, daily living, and community integration activities.  They also oversee household maintenance and meal preparation.  Data collection and preparing data summaries as well as preparing and adhering to a schedule of activities are also important duties of an RSS.  An RSS 1 has the additional duties of assisting the residents with self-administration of medications and they take on the role of shift leader in the absence of the Home Administrator.  RSS 1’s wage is higher than an RSS 2.
